My Visit to Namsan Tower: Locks of Love for BTS 💜
I finally made it to Namsan Tower, and of course, I couldn’t resist leaving my mark with a Lock of Love. I wrote all the boys’ names on it, felt like a small tribute to them right there in the heart of Seoul.
The tower holds a special place for ARMYs like me. Even though I became an ARMY in 2020, I thought about how back in 2018 it was lit up in purple to celebrate the LOVE MYSELF campaign, BTS’s way of spreading messages of self-love and supporting UNICEF’s efforts to protect children from violence. Just picturing that purple light stretching across the city made being there in person feel even more powerful.
Getting there was definitely a workout. The uphill climb of stairs was tiring, but every step was worth it. The locks are sold by the little coffee shop near the top, and I really hope mine will still be there the next time I return.
There’s something magical about seeing all those locks shining under the Seoul skyline, each one carrying a message of love, hope, or admiration. Adding mine to the mix felt like a tiny way of connecting with the boys and with thousands of ARMYs who’ve left their hearts behind too.
Plus, Namsan Tower has such a special vibe because it’s featured in almost every drama I’ve ever seen set in Seoul. Seeing it in real life, after watching it countless times on screen, made the experience feel even more surreal.
Until next time, Namsan Tower.
