MAGNATE – A Busan Café Indulgence
For any BTS ARMY visiting Busan, MAGNATE, the café owned by Jimin’s dad, is an unforgettable stop. I arrived on a busy day—there was a long line out the door as fans who would be attending the Busan concert and celebrating Jimin’s birthday waited to get in. The café was packed, and the energy was palpable. There was even a bit of a commotion that ended with Jimin’s dad calling the police—a long story, but my two friends were captivated by the tale while I waited patiently in line to order.
While waiting, I had a brief, surreal moment: I got to say hi and shake hands with Jimin’s dad. I told him I was from Los Angeles and that I became a BTS fan after my husband passed away, and that coming to Busan was part of my healing. He was kind and gracious, and that small interaction instantly became one of the most meaningful moments of my trip.
The café itself is contemporary and sleek, painted in simple gray tones with a clean, minimalist aesthetic. I absolutely loved the bathroom—a little indulgence in itself. The pastries and cakes were similar to what you’d find in Seoul, and the drinks were okay, comforting but nothing extraordinary. At the entrance, fans had left flowers and gifts for Jimin, adding a tender, celebratory touch to the space.
This was the first café I visited in Busan coming from Seoul, and it immediately felt like a special part of the city’s charm. While the pastries and drinks were familiar, the atmosphere, the history, and the brief, heartfelt encounter with Jimin’s dad made it an indulgence worth tucking into my Purple Vault. It’s not just about taste; it’s about the stories, the people, and the memories that make a café truly unforgettable.
