A Glimpse into Suga’s Craft: HASH The Wood, Yongsan

During my trip to Korea, I had the chance to visit HASH The Wood, the wood carving studio featured in Suga’s vlog, located in Yongsan near HYBE. We took a taxi and were dropped off on the main street, then had to walk a bit. The workshop is tucked away in a basement, and the sign is easy to miss, so we were a little lost at first but that made finally finding it feel like discovering a hidden treasure.

While I didn’t have time for the full four-hour class, the experience was still incredibly special. I met the instructor, who was welcoming and patient, and I even bought the same apron that Suga wore in the vlog. They allowed me to take photos of the station where Yoongi worked and showed me items similar to what he had made. In the vlog, Suga carved cutting boards shaped like whales for the other six members, and he mentioned that back when they lived together, he used to make furniture for them.

Seeing the tools, the space, and the pieces he created made me feel as close as possible to Yoongi’s craftsmanship outside of music. It was a quiet, intimate experience—a chance to connect with a different side of an artist whose work I deeply admire.
