BTS Time Capsule at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History
I actually meant to visit the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History back in 2022, but somehow never made it. So, on this trip, I finally went and I’m so glad I did. The museum is right next to the American Embassy in Seoul, and it’s easy to get to. I got off the bus and just walked over it’s a short, simple walk to the entrance.
What I really wanted to see was the BTS Time Capsule, which is displayed on the fifth floor. The capsule was presented to the Korean government on September 19, 2020, during the first National Youth Day ceremony, and it’s set to be opened in 2039 for the 20th Youth Day celebration. The capsule itself is purple, and it contains messages from BTS, items connected to their music, and objects representing Korean youth. It’s such a small corner of the museum, but it carries so much meaning a quiet reminder of how BTS has become part of modern Korean history.
